The world’s first all-electric sports bike is set to be unveiled this December at the Clean and Cool Missions in Colorado, U.S. The London-based cleantech company Agility Global will showcase its flagship Saietta R motorcycle, which can go from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds without using a single drop of fuel. Besides being lightweight and eco-friendly, the Saietta R looks like an uber-powerful vehicle worthy of a Hollywood superhero.
The highly innovative bike is expected to be one of the most energy-efficient vehicles on the road. The Saietta, which means “thunderbolt” in Apennine Italian, will be able to travel 112 miles on a single change, which is enough to cross London three times. Thanks to the electric motor, the manufacturer was able to redesign the bike’s appearance to go beyond the conventional petrol-driven shape. The bike boasts powerful performance and has a Hollywood look reminiscent of Tron’s lightcycles.
Agility Global will be one of 16 UK-based start-up companies chosen to showcase their most successful engineering endeavors and represent British innovation in green technology. Although the official launch of Saietta is planned for 2014, the U.S. public will have the opportunity to take a look at the prototype which is already available for pre-order.
